Travel Tips for you
Using a travel Agent or Tour Operator is your first step in protecting yourself against ingenious travel scam artists. Be an Informed Traveler!
DO’S & DON’T’S OF TRAVEL
DO:
- Contact a professional tour operator before making any tour booking. Experienced travel professionals can help you avoid potential hassles and costly mistakes.
- Use a properly registered company. You can verify this from via organizations like ASTA [ American society for Travel agents or KATO [ Kenya Association of Tour Operators ]
- Use your tour operator to furnish you with information about the area you want to visit. Ask as many questions as possible to clear any doubt and to avoid surprises after booking.
DON’T’S
- Do not book online unless your questions about your destinations have been answered. If you do not ask the questions you will not make an informed decision.
- Beware of misleading promotions. Too-good-to-be-true deals often come with the condition….so beware and learn to tell scam from a real deal!
- Do not book with an online agency unless you know its location and contact information. There are so many briefcase tour operators.
- Avoid dealing with telemarketers and high pressure sales pitches that require you to make an immediate decision.
- Avoid promotions that start “ You have been specially selected to receive a spectacular vacation offer “
- Be skeptical about ads that promise a lot of low, low price. Also, watch out for trips that guarantee your dream vacation for seemingly impossible rates.
Although the array of scams can make planning a trip seem exhausting and even daunting, it doesn’t have to be. A tour operator can offer security and professional expertise. Arranging your Vacation can be fun and exciting if you follow this golden rule: If it sounds too good to be true, it probably is!
