At 5896m the snowcapped Mt Kilimanjaro is no doubt the highest peak in Africa and one of the continents magnificent sights. Mt Kilimanjaro raises through lush rainforest,alphine meadows and barren lunar landscape to the twin summits of kibo and mawnezi.. For most people who visit Kilimanjaro their aim and dream is to reach the Uhuru peak . There many routes for trekking in Mt Kilimanjaro .The Umbwe are much steeper and a more direct way to the summit. Its upper section which is usually covered with snow and ice is a serious undertaking.. Day 1
Leave Arusha at 0730hrs for Londorossi gate, trekking from Londorossi gate to Shira first cave. Dinner and overnight at Shira 1 camp. The trek takes approximately 5 hours (3840m). Day 2
After breakfast trek for 5-6 hours to Shira 2 camp for dinner and overnight (4400m). Day 3
After breakfast, trek to Shira plateau and enjoy an unusual and spectacular view into neighboring Kenya and the famous elephant sanctuary Amboseli National Park. Dinner and overnight. (4000m) Day 4
After breakfast se off for the lava tower at 4600m. Dinner and overnight. Day 5
After breakfast trek to the ‘Arrow Glacier’ through the ‘Western Bridge ’. Dinner and overnight at the Arrow Glacier camp. (4800m) Day 6
With an early start trek to the rim. Dinner and overnight at the crater rim. (5800) Day 7
After breakfast trek over to Uhuru Peak at 5896m in time to watch a spectacular sunrise over the crater’s glaciers. Afterwards descend down to ‘Barafu Point’ to enjoy a hot lunch at 4600m before descending further to Mweka hut 3100m approximately 4 hrs trek to arrive in time for dinner and overnight. Day 8
After breakfast descend to Mweka gate through mountain forest (1500m). After the 4-hour trek you will be met by our driver and escorted back to Arusha. |
